It may not be the most obvious focus for a European Capital of Culture event, but Galway 2020 will be celebrating everything and anything to do with sheep - from farm to fork, the catwalk, and everything in between.

A fantastic one-day health and wellness event will be held next month at the stunning Claregalway Castle in Galway.

Over the past eight years, Claregalway Castle has become the premier centre for botanical art and illustration in the west of Ireland, thanks to the annual Botanical Art Expo held in conjunction with the Galway Garden Festival every July.

The 2019 Galway Garden Festival will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of July, at Claregalway Castle. This will be the 10th year of this multi-faceted jewel in the Irish Gardening calendar. It will not only showcase the very best of rare and special plant traders from all over Ireland but also includes a wonderful programme of expert talks, the usual superb artisan Food and Craft arena and a host of musical entertainment and open-air performance.

Culture Night is Ireland’s national celebration of culture, creativity and the arts. It takes place all over Galway city and county on Friday 21st September and sparkles well into the night. On Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30, battle returns to Claregalway Castle as members of the Irish Full Contact Medieval Combat Team prepare to face opposition from some of the world’s top fighters.

This Sunday the annual Autumn Garden Fair takes place again in Claregalway Castle, where some of Ireland’s best nurseries and rare plant specialists will display a great selection of shrubs, trees and more.
